UFC 88 Betting Lines Update for “Breakthrough” with Picks

We have updated the latest UFC 88 betting lines now that the event is only a week away.  We’ve yet to see any drastic line moves though lines generally have improved since our last update. Current UFC 88 Betting

Chuck Liddell (-260 at BetUS) vs. Rashad Evans (+225 at Bookmaker)

Matt Hamill (+205 at Bookmaker) vs. Rich Franklin (-240 at BetUS)

Dan Henderson (-205 at Bodog) vs.Rousimar Palhares (+170 at Bookmaker)

Karo Parisyan (-240 at Bookmaker) vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida (+200 at BetUS)

Martin Kampmann (+115 at Bookmaker) vs. Nate Marquardt (-145 at Bodog)

The UFC 88 main event looks like a forgone conclusion for many as the match-up really looks tailor made for Liddell. Don’t be surprised if the fight goes to a decision though. For value bettors I suggest taking Evans should his line drop to around +240.

Matt Hamill makes a big jump in competition when he faces former middleweight champion Rich Franklin.  Franklin, a solid striker, left the middleweight division after losing twice to champion Anderson Silva. He has fought just about every UFC middleweight contender with the next logical next stepping being a bout with Dan Henderson however it appears he choose a slightly easier option by moving up to the light heavyweight division. Matt Hamiil is a raw talent with who has the potential to become a real threat in the division. I give the sight edge to Franklin, though Hamill is the value play in my opinion.

Dan Henderson returns to action against dangerous newcomer Rousimar Palhares. Palhares holds a 8-1 professional MMA record and is coming of a superb submission win over Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84. This is a vital bout for Handerson who is on 2 fight loosing streak. Again this is another match-up between a talented newcomer vs established UFC/MMA veteran. I like Rousimar to surprise a lot of MMA fans but betting wise I’m staying clear of this one.

On the other two main card bouts on the card like welterweight veteran Karo Parisyan to decision Yoshiyuki Yoshida and Dutch striker Martin Kampmann to get past Nate Marquardt.
