Malaysian Grand Prix Betting: Predictions for the Race and Qualifying
Andre Sanchez - March 21st, 2008 .Formula 1 returns to Malaysia for round two of the 2008 world championship this weekend. Albert Park offered us little insight into the form of a number of teams and with a 50% forecast of showers for both Saturday and Sunday, there is every chance of another chaotic race as the drivers go without traction control for the first time in wet conditions. Kimi Raikkonen in particular, having been favorite leading into Australia, failed to live up to expectations, making a number of uncharacteristic mistakes. Team-mate Felipe Massa also committed his share of mistakes , ending his weekend with coming-together with David Coulthard. When the Ferrari’s were in clear air they were just as fast as the McLaren, however it is the reliability that will have Ferrari worried the most this weekend on a track that is famous for being one of the hardest on the cars and drivers. The short turn around time between the grand prix has given Ferrari engineers little time to analyze and resolve their technical problems. Having suffered the worst start to a Formula One campaign since 1992 all the pressure will be on Kimi and Felipe deliver a convincing points haul on Sunday. Onto the individual betting tips for the Malaysian GP:
Having under performed in Australia and after a mostly disappointing 2007 season I believe odds makers are underestimating Felipe Massa. He failed to deliver in Albert Park but when things went his way in 2007, often he outperformed and out qualified Kimi and if it weren’t for bad luck it could have easily been him winning last years championship. With showers predicted any thing can happen, both will be without traction control in the wet conditions for the first time, in which case the value is more likely to be on the underdog for this match up. McLaren have yet to start the Malaysian Grand Prix on pole position. Ferrari have done so six times. Of the nine races at Sepang to date, five have been won by the driver on pole position. Last year Massa qualified on pole, Hamilton 4th. I believe that Massa will vie for the 2008 drivers championship and is likely return to form here in Malaysia. Take Massa over Hamilton in qualifying and in the race. I also see Raikkonen under performing again in Malaysia as he still looks to find his best form after the championship victory, I don’t think we‘ll see the best of him for a few races yet. Take Massa over Raikkonen in the race.
Felipe Massa Over Lewis Hamilton in Race (2.6) 1 Unit
Felipe Massa Over Lewis Hamilton in Qualifying (2.50) 0.5 Unit
Felipe Massa Over Kimi Raikkonen in Race (2.40) 0.5 Unit. All Odds PinnacleSports.com

Massa took pole and got off to a good start, Kimi overtook him after the first round of pits, with Hamilton 12th after hist 1st pit, the one unit bet was looking good, but Massa spun on turn eight and became stranded in the gravel trap. So thats 1-2 for the F1 weekend -0.75 Unit, even though we were on the right side.
