Bahrain Grand Prix Odds, Betting Tips and Predictions
Andre Sanchez - April 5th, 2008 .

Once again off track controversies dominate the F1 world as we look ahead to the latest Bahrain Grand Prix odds, betting tips and predictions. After his dominant performance in Malaysia Kimi Raikkonen has regained his pre season status as the man to beat for the drivers championship in 2008. Odd makers have slashed the Finns price to win the drivers title to 1.80 while Hamilton as blown out to 2.63 after he underperformed Malaysia only finishing fifth. Ferrari have also regained favoritism for the constructors title after taking pole and the race win, a one-two finish was all but guaranteed half way trough the race had it not been for a Massa spin. As one of the two teams to test in Bahrain in the off season, its Ferrari who should have the advantage going into the race and qualifying for a second consecutive grand prix. They has done well Bahrain winning two of the four grand prix held here since 2004. Felipe Massa recorded a comfortable win from pole last year. He will require a major points haul to ease the pressure that has been mounting in the press over the last two rounds. Onto this weeks this tips and Bahrain GP odds.

Pick 1: Felipe Massa over Kimi Raikkonen in Qualifying (1.82, Pinnacle Sports) 1 Unit

Bahrain has not been the luckiest of venues for Kimi Raikkonen finishing third in three successive Grands Prix here. He is still struggling to get the best out of his Ferrari during qualifying, Massa out qualifying him both times in 2008. Massa also out qualified here last year. Massa will play it conservatively. He will be lighter on fuel for qualifying to secure a place in the front row to avoid any chance of having to battle it out in the midfield early on in race. I don’t think the media pressure will get to him. His position at Ferrari is secure, the result here will not determine is future at Ferrari, his overall 2008 performance will. He was in a similar position last year making unnecessary errors in the first two grand prix and was under a lot of pressure from the media and he answered his critics with a convincing victory last year. He’ll target a front row position in qualifying but I don’t think he’ll have enough stay ahead of Raikkonen in the race. I’m taking Massa over Raikkonen in qualifying.

Pick 2: Heikki Kovalainen For Race Win Stake (15.00, Pinnacle Sports) 1/8 Unit

Heiki Kovalainen drove brilliantly to finish 3rd after starting 8th in Sepang and out qualifying Hamilton. He was also very unlucky in Australia to only finish fifth. He is delivering beyond expectations at Mclaren and although he was only expected to play a supporting role this season he appears to have raised his game at Mclarren and is set to challenge Hamilton on a regular basis. I like the value on him taking out his first race victory. I’ll have very small play on him to win in Bahrain.

Andre record: (2-3-0) +2.25 Units
