US Masters Odds and Predictions for Augusta

The 2008 US Masters starts on Thursday at the Augusta National, professional handicapper J.D Driscoll has the latest 2008 US masters odds and predictions. While Tigers Woods is once again the prohibitive favorite to win golf’s most prestigious tournament there are still numerous wagering opportunities to make this a profitable week for bettors without getting involved in the masters outright winner market. For example if you like the field over Tiger Woods some are offering as high odds as +126 for Woods and -137 for the field. Most have also issued outright win markets without Tiger, as the second overall favorite Phil Nickolson is leading that particular field . If you have a strong opinion on a European for the week there many sports books offering a top European market with Padraig Harrington the 4-1 favorite. There are literally hundreds others markets available if you like many think Tiger is simply on another level but cant decide if there is any value betting on or against him. I’m mainly going to stay clear of the outright winner market this week and have chosen too focus on a few individual match up bets that represent the best value propositions. Tournament Match Bets: VJ Singh (1.77/-130) vs Ernie Else (2.00/+100)

VJ Singh is the value play for me in this matchup at -130 odds at Bodoglife and is a good prospect for other match bets and tournament bets this week. Singh is a previous winner here, his US masters victory coming in 2000. Since 2002 he has made the top eight in five consecutive years from 2002 to 2006. 2007 was a terrible year for him in majors but he is playing well in 2008. In his last five tournaments he has finished fifth or better four times, including two runner-ups at the Blue Monster and Pebble Beach. Els on other had is a man in decline. He has come very close to winning in Augusta, finishing no worse then sixth for five consecutive years and finishing second in 2000 and 2004. Since then he has three disappointing years at the masters , finishing 47, T27 and not making the cut last year. Singh is on top of his game and should continue his form this week.
